Peptide probes for protein transmembrane domains.
Much current interest in chemical biology focuses on the transmembrane domains of proteins, which have emerged as targets for the development of novel diagnostics and therapeutics. Integral membrane proteins are a group of important biomolecules that play pivotal roles in many cellular activities. Previous studies primarily focused on the extra- and/or intracellular domains of membrane proteins...
متن کاملPeptide-based probes for cancer imaging.
Receptors for regulatory peptides are overexpressed in a variety of human cancers. They represent the molecular basis for in vivo imaging with radiolabeled peptide probes. Somatostatin-derived tracers, designed to image the sst2-overexpressing neuroendocrine tumors, have enjoyed almost 2 decades of successful development and extensive clinical applications. More recent developments include seco...
متن کاملZn2+-dependent peptide nucleic acids probes.
Binding of bis-picolylamine-naphthalene diimide-peptide nucleic acid conjugates to complementary DNA is strongly dependent upon Zn2+; ultimately, hybridization is switched ON in the presence muM Zn2+.
متن کاملRuthenium polypyridyl peptide conjugates: membrane permeable probes for cellular imaging.
Two novel polyarginine labelled ruthenium polypyridyl dyes are reported, one conjugated to five, (Ru-Ahx-R5), and one to eight arginine residues, (Ru-Ahx-R8); both complexes exhibit long-lived, intense, and oxygen-sensitive luminescence; (Ru-R8) is passively, efficiently and very rapidly transported across the cell membrane into the cytoplasm without requirement for its permeablisation.
متن کاملTwo-dimensional vibrational optical probes for peptide fast folding investigation.
A simulation study shows that early protein folding events may be investigated by using a recently developed family of nonlinear infrared techniques that combine the high temporal and spatial resolution of multidimensional spectroscopy with the chirality-specific sensitivity of amide vibrations to structure. We demonstrate how the structural sensitivity of cross-peaks in two-dimensional correla...
